Statement Of Faith

WE BELIEVE the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (Psalm 119; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Hebrews 4:12). The Bible is our God given source of instruction for all aspects of faith and practice.

WE BELIEVE in the Triune nature of God, that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Acts 5:3-4; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

WE BELIEVE in the deity of Jesus Christ (John 10:33); His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:34-35); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His vicarious atoning death (I Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:14-21; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9); His resurrection (John 11:25; I Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19).

WE BELIEVE in the absolute necessity of a second birth which is a regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation. Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). This second birth is necessary because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature. This second birth involves being justified on the single ground of faith in Jesus and His shed atoning blood. This second birth salvation can only be received by God’s grace, through faith alone in Christ alone (John 1:12; 3:16-19; 5:24; 16:8-11; Romans 3:23; 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5).

WE BELIEVE that God calls every Christian to live a holy life (Rom. 6; 2 Cor. 7:1; 1 Pet. 1:15-16). The nature of this holy life is loving God supremely and loving others sacrificially (e.g. Matthew 22:34-39). The Holy Spirit indwells every believer and seeks to conform them to the image of Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:29). Christians can struggle in their walk due to attempts to live in their own strength, and/or due to carnality (1 Cor. 3:1-3). Attempting to live a Christian life in one’s own strength is a wretched state (Rom. 7:15-24). The solution is living in full surrender to the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8). The Father’s Promise for every believer is to experience by faith the baptism with the Holy Spirit whereby the Christian’s heart is purified from sinful influences (Acts 15:8-9) and empowered for service (Acts 1:8; 2:1ff.). The nature of this power is holy love (Romans 5:5). Such love is the fruit of the Holy Spirit in a believer (Galatians 5:22-24). Only when we walk in the Spirit can the flesh be subdued (Gal. 5:16). All we do as Christians should be compelled by the love of Jesus (2 Cor. 5:14-16).

WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved experience a resurrection to life, the lost experience a resurrection to damnation (John 5:28-29). The resurrection of Jesus Christ is indispensable to the Christian faith and the Gospel (1 Cor. 15).

WE BELIEVE in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28; Ephesians 2:11-22; 4:4-6; Hebrews 10:24-25). We are nondenominational as a church in an effort to promote the commonality and unity of believers rather than the differences denominations tend to emphasize.

WE BELIEVE in Jesus’ personal return to earth by Jesus. We believe His return has a twofold aspect. He will return to Rapture His saints to meet Him in the clouds in order to spare them from Tribulation and to save His church from the wrath to come (1 Thessalonians 1:10; 4:13-18; Luke 21:35; Revelation 3:10; 4:1). We believe Jesus will return to earth at His 2nd Coming in power and glory and will come with His saints to set up His Kingdom (Matthew 24; Mark 13; Luke 21; Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-16).

WE BELIEVE in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling, guidance, gifting, and empowerment the Christian is enabled to live a godly life, build up the church and fulfill the Great Commission (Acts 1:8; 2:1ff.; 4:31; Romans 8; I Corinthians 3:16; 6:19-20; II Corinthians 3:17-18; Galatians 5:16-24; Ephesians 4:30; 5:18).
